Visitors were invited to dive head-on into a glittering wonderland with a playful reimagining of the festive classic, in London’s newest pop-up jazz club under the Royal Festival Hall.

Wild-spirited, mischievous and a lot of fun! Brought together by Olivier Award-winning choreographer Drew McOnie and Mercury-nominated jazz artist Cassie Kinoshi, Nutcracker saw premier dancers of The McOnie Company performing to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score, reimagined for a live onstage jazz band.

The Tuff Nutt Jazz Club at the Southbank Centre, is a newly transformed music and performance space, putting audiences at the centre of one of the coolest jazz clubs in London

The cast for Nutcracker included Amonik Melaco, Sam Salter and Patricia Zhou with Chanelle Anthony, Christie Crosson, Tim Hodges, Lukas Hunt and Rachel Muldoon.

Nutcracker was composed by Cassie Kinoshi with additional music by Rio Kai, venue and set designed by Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Ryan Dawson Laight, music supervision by Benjamin Kwasi Burrell, lighting design by Joshie Hariette, sound design by Simon Baker, and casting by Will Burton CDG.

Cast includes: Amonik Melaco (Action Man), Sam Salter (Clive) and Patricia Zhou (Sugarplum) with Chanelle Anthony, Christie Crosson, Tim Hodges, Lukas Hunt and Rachel Muldoon.

Directed and choreographed by Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie featuring Tchaikovsky’s world-famous score reimagined for an on stage jazz band by multi-award winning jazz artist Cassie Kinoshi.
