Underbelly Boulevard will be a new live entertainment venue for music, cabaret, variety and comedy, comprising of a 200 capacity cabaret and music venue, a rehearsal room for hire, daytime hire for events, readings and workshops, a bar and a restaurant.
JOB PURPOSE
To ensure the highest possible technical standards are achieved and maintained focusing on productions and events within our auditorium. To ensure that all health & safety requirements are met for all activities and in all venues, but also throughout the theatre building.
ROLE
Technical
- Provide a professional and friendly point of contact for visiting companies, artists and their representatives to ensure the smooth running and efficient realisation of their productions.
- Oversee the venue’s performances and events and assist with the running of the show. Assist companies with trouble-shooting any issues that arise.
- Assist with rigging and de-rigging of lighting / sound, AV and captioning equipment ensuring kit is maintained and tested regularly.
- Ensure that the venue and associated areas are made safe, powered down and secured after the completion of the performance or event, taking responsibility for the deactivation and reactivation of detection devices as deemed necessary by the performance schedule.
Health and Safety
- Read and actively implement the Health & Safety Policy in all areas. Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and secure manner and inform the Technical Manager in the case of any uncertainty.
- Assist with building evacuation in the event of an emergency situation, and liaise with the emergency services as required.
Other Duties
- Attending regular company meetings.
- Contributing to the development of the venue’s policies and procedures.
- Any other duties as reasonably required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Knowledge of theatre lighting, sound, AV, technical stage management, technical systems and software including EOS consoles and QLab.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety best practice, CDM and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of working drawings pertinent to theatrical technical delivery.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Highly personable manner and an ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to prioritise tasks.
- Ability to work pro-actively, anticipating challenges in advance.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
