Underbelly Boulevard will be a new live entertainment venue for music, cabaret, variety and comedy, comprising of a 200 capacity cabaret and music venue, a rehearsal room for hire, daytime hire for events, readings and workshops, a bar and a restaurant.

 

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure all events within the venue run with optimal effectiveness, with particular focus on the public-facing elements of performances, workshops and hires.

ROLE

Front of House Operations

  • Taking operational responsibility for the safety and security of the building.
  • Creating and implementing incident plan procedures for each performance in consultation with the Technical Manager.
  • Implementing the correct emergency and evacuation procedures for the building.
  • Acting as Duty Manager as required for a minimum of four days per week and during key performances and events.
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure that all areas of the building and all events operate smoothly and efficiently.

Customer Service

  • Working closely with other departments, in particular the Box Office Manager and Bar Manager to develop a coordinated approach to customer care for the Boulevard.
  • Working with other departments to ensure all public areas of the building are presented in the best way possible in terms of cleanliness and general maintenance.

Staffing

  • Recruiting all casual front of house staff.
  • Creating and maintaining rotas for front of house staff.
  • Ensuring all hours are reconciled, ready to be processed by payroll department.
  • Induction, training and development of front of house staff.

Other Duties

  • Keeping up to date with developments in front of house management.
  • Attending regular company meetings.
  • Contributing to the development of the venue’s policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Previous experience of working at a managerial or supervisory level in an arts or events organisation.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, professional and self-motivated.
  • Strong communication skills and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to recognise potential health and safety issues before they arise.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent timekeeping skills.
  • Can do attitude.
  • Sense of urgency.
  • Positive and flexible approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team whilst also being able to work independently.
