JOB PURPOSE

Underbelly are seeking a a Christmas Market Manager to manage the market at Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park.  This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in producing a large-scale Christmas event and will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to manage a world-renowned Christmas market with the best of local food and gift traders.

ROLE

Main Duties

  • Leading the Winter Wonderland market team.
  • Liaising with partners, such as IMG, where necessary.
  • Trader performance tracking and reporting.
  • Contracting all traders, ensuring there is a good mix of local food and retail.
  • Maintaining databases and spreadsheets, ensuring they are kept up to date at all times.
  • Liaising with the production department to co-ordinate timed arrivals and departures of all traders during the build and strike periods.
  • Liaising with site management to co-ordinate trader deliveries during the operational period.
  • Managing trader storage facilities.
  • Ensuring that all stalls remain presentable and safe, are operating to time and proactively dealing with any issues as they arise including problem solving and collaborating where necessary.
  • Ensuring all traders are selling products to which they are contracted to sell.
  • Collating daily sales figures.
  • Working alongside the Market Health and Safety Administrator to ensure all documentation is collated from traders in advance of their arrival onsite.
  • Attending regular meetings with the Senior Event Producer and Head of Operations.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of balancing creative and commercial requirements whilst exceeding sales targets.
  • An understanding of the importance of flexibility, confidence and excellent timekeeping.
  • A good standard of computer literacy including the use of Apple Macs, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • An understanding of the need to maintain a flexible attitude to working hours and work outside of normal office hours.
  • An ability to work to deadlines, and plan and prioritise short and long-term tasks effectively.
  • Tact, patience and diplomacy, in addition to infectious enthusiasm.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in a festival environment.
  • Experience of contracting.
  • Experience of working in a market environment.
